in Lake View Terrace for almost 25 years.

recognition to each honoree. Also presenting certificates, were representatives from

COMMUNITY RIDE A HUGE SUCCESS!

Lake View Terrace, CA: The “Johny Carpenter” Arena Community Ride & BBQ was a well attended event.
Held on Sunday June 26th, 2011, in the Horse Rest area adjacent to the future arena site
on Foothill Place. At least 25 riders participated and over 80 attended the BBQ, which was
funded by Foothill Trails District Neighborhood Council (FTDNC).

Represented on the ride, which winded its way around the Tujunga Ponds, All Nations Church,
Angeles Golf Club and under the 210 Freeway, were representatives from
Equestrian Trails International, Corrals 20 & 210, Foothill Mounted Patrol, the Mayors Office,
the Council Office, Sun Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and
101 year old Bert Bonnet back in the saddle, riding as well.

The BBQ was done by Phil Tabbi of CPAB With the donated BBQ rig from Foothill Division.
We also had participation from FTDNC, Reel Cowboys, LVT Improvement Association,
Dusty’s Riders, “Special Spirit,” Ride for a Cure, local stables and many neighbors.
Musical entertainment was provided by Buck Corbett. Terry Kaiser served as trail boss.

The ride & BBQ are part of the “Johny Carpenter” Arena construction schedule.
Upcoming events include Sundays July 10, 17 & 24, where clean up of the arena site will take place.
This will lead to the “groundbreaking” sometime in late August on the historic site of
the original Heaven on Earth Ranch. NHOER looks to having the grand opening
of the arena & riding program by the end of 2012.

“JOHNY CARPENTER” ARENA BECOMING A REALITY
JOHNY CARPENTER ARENA BECOMING A REALITY 2011 JOHNY CARPENTER ARENA BECOMING A REALITY 2011

Lake View Terrace, CA: The New “Heaven on Earth” Ranch (NHOER), took the first steps in
the construction of the “Johny Carpenter” Arena on Foothill Place in Lake View Terrace.
The first day of construction was Saturday April 30th, 2011. Attending the start up were
Mary Benson representing Council Member Paul Krekorian, Terry Kaiser of FTDNC & ETI and
members of the board of directors of NHOER: Lee Diebold President, Randy Horton Vice President,
Katherine Carpenter secretary, Joel Druckman and Skeeter Mann.

The first task was to display the banner announcing the “future location” of the arena, which
is the same historic site of the original Heaven on Earth Ranch, where Johny Carpenter built
an authentic western town and taught physically & mentally challenged children and young
adults how to ride a horse. All Nations Church purchased the land and upon learning about
Johny and the ranch, said to “bring it back.” The arena is part of the churches conditional
use permit with NHOER listed as the organization to maintain it.

The land where the arena will sit, was dedicated in a public ceremony, by the church, on
September 12th, 2004. The Johny Carpenter working group recommended to honor Johny, an
independent 501 (c)(3) should be created to build the “Johny Carpenter” Arena, make it
available to the community and establish the “Johny Carpenter” riding program, free of charge.
NHOER is now a fully recognized CA based 501 (c)(3) public charity and has its LA City Business
Tax Registration Certificate and is a member of the Sun Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.

Other activities that day included the plotting of the site plan and working on the round pen
in the adjacent “horse rest” area (Part of the dedicated trail around the church).
Thanks to Terry Kaiser and his tractor, which made a huge difference in the round pen.
This is also available to the community, 7 days a week.

Future activity will be a formal “groundbreaking the community will be invited to and
then on to the final construction. The “target” date for the formal opening is
around September 17th, 2011 or soon after. The arena will be open 7 days a week, daylight hours.
Monday-Saturday, you will be able to park horse trailers in a staging area next to the arena.
Use by individuals is free of charge, as will the riding program NHOER will be offering.
Local groups, for a nominal fee, will be able to “reserve” half the arena for their use.
There will be no “public” events taking place, but local groups can conduct their programs.
A bulletin board will be on site with rules and be available for community postings.
The arena dimensions are 125' x 250' with 3 gates.

NHOER honors the spirit of the late Johny Carpenter, whose original Heaven on Earth Ranch stood on Foothill Place for almost 25 years. Johny built an authentic western town and taught physically & mentally challenged children/young adults how to ride a horse.
It is dedicated to maintaining our equestrian way of life, restoring horse use land
and providing a place to bring our community together, like Johny did.
New Heaven on Earth Ranch Foundation Thanks Giving 2006 The 2006 Spirit honoree's were Cile Borman and the Pacoima Graffiti Busters. Presenting the awards was Randy Horton who was Johny Carpenter's pin up boy at the original Heaven on Earth Ranch. Council Member Wendy Greuel presented certificates on behalf of the city including recognition from Mayor Villaraigosa and Council Member Padilla. Board Member Julie Korenstein presented certificates from LAUSD. Also present were representatives from the Mayors office, Senator Alarcon and Asembly Member Montanez. Supervisor Antonovich presented All Nations Church a certificate and a letter of recognition was read from California's Governor Schwarzenegger.
