Horse Arena Specs & Timeline

The biggest part of the construction is the putting down of the DG and the compaction of the field which is vital to support the horses. We intend to have a  metal pipe style enclosure with the main entrance to have a western theme, with the old sign put back up. There will actually be three gates for safety and convenience. We will also have a watering system to wet the arena and keep the dust down. Those using trailers for on site unloading will park right next to the arena in a shaded area.

Adjacent to the arena is a horse rest area All Nations Church constructed with tie rails, cross ties, watering station (For both horse & human) and a place to wash your horse. Surrounding the arena site and church is a one mile recreation trail with many places to access with your horse.

The trail & rest area are open daylight hours year round. The arena would follow the same schedule. Access to the wash, which leads to trails throughout the foothills is also available.

2006 started with the 1st Annual “State of the Horse” Convention & Equine Trade Show. This was co sponsored by the foundation, Valley Horse Owners Association & Vaquerio Heritage Foundation. The “first of its kind” event attracted almost 400 participants in both sessions, the reintroduction of the chuck wagon (Which provided lunch), 30 vendors, 35 groups and countless

elected officials and representatives of government. The goal is to create the first “equine chamber of commerce.”

We have the 2nd Annual Community Family Concert, which is becoming our annual fundraising event on Friday July 14th, 2006. The 4th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner & Korean BBQ with presentation the “Spirit of Johny Carpenter” Award scheduled for Friday November 17th, 2006.  All these events will take place at All Nations Church in Lake View Terrace.

Also in the works are construction of our website. We hope to have it up and running sometime during the summer of 2006. The arena will be constructed in three phrases over the course of 4 months beginning July 2006. First will be the acquisition and transportation of the “DG” & sand, then its compaction. The 2nd phrase will be the railings, gates & signs. This will be part of an “Arena Raising” Party which will include community participation. Finally, the sprinkler installation and preparing for operation (Insurance, rules posting, etc.)  It is our dream to see the arena open by late autumn of 2006.
