The foundation was created as a result of the recommendation of the Johny Carpenter Working Group. This was formed just after the 1st Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and “Spirit of Johny Carpenter” Award was presented in November 2003. Once All Nations Church discovered the history of their land, they wanted to bring back what Johny had done in some way.
The working group recommended the creation of a foundation to honor Johny’s legacy. The foundation was created in August 2004 and is part of the National Heritage Foundation. On September 12th 2004, land was dedicated for the eventual building of The “Johny Carpenter” Arena.
The arena will be 150' x 300' and will be made available to the surrounding foothills community, which has a tradition of horses and a country way of life. The focus will be to bring local equine groups to use the arena, including those dedicated to what Johny did, helping physically and mentally challenged children and young adults. To also allow individual riders a venue to bring their horses
We intend to work with local schools and give them the opportunity to experience horses, riding, etc. Plans include working with at risk & the physically/mentally challenged with our own riding program. Ponies are being trained for this now and should be available in the near future. We hope to have office space and create the “Johny Carpenter museum. It will house a collection of Johny’s keepsakes and give a history of the original ranch.
